Jonathan Edwards:
“Sin is the great enemy of the soul, a deadly poison that corrupts and destroys everything it touches. It is through sin that we rebel against God and His righteous commands, plunging ourselves into darkness and despair. The Puritan must be vigilant against the deceitfulness of sin, recognizing its allurements and avoiding its snares. Let us not be deceived by the fleeting pleasures of sin, but let us turn from its ways and seek forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus Christ. In Him alone can we find redemption and restoration, and it is only by His grace that we can overcome the power of sin in our lives.” (From various sermons and writings of Jonathan Edwards)
